FAQ
Questions we hear at the counter
Short answers on walk-ins, quotes, timing, payment, and parking.
Do you take walk-ins?
Yes — we’re at 10500 SW Hwy, Unit D in Chicago Ridge, and walk-ins are welcome. Most everyday items are finished the same day. For formal wear, call ahead so we can set aside the time your garments need.
How much does it cost?
Every job is measured and quoted in person, and the quote is free. You approve the price before we sew a stitch. We don’t list prices online because fabric and condition change the work.
How fast?
Same day on most everyday items — hems, tapering, zipper work. Formal and bridal pieces get a timeline when you drop them off. On Sundays we’re on call — phone first and we’ll set a time.
What can you work on?
Men’s and women’s clothing: hems, tapering, waists and sleeves, zippers, buttons, and general repairs. Suits, jackets and shirts too — sleeve shortening from the cuff or the shoulder, jacket body and lining work. We regularly alter prom, graduation, bridesmaid, and mother-of-the-bride dresses, and we repair leather jackets. If you’re unsure about a garment, bring it in — we’ll tell you what can be done.
What should I bring for a hem?
The garment and the shoes you’ll wear with it. Hems are marked over your shoes, and an inch of heel changes the length. For washable garments, launder them first so we mark the fabric the way it sits after a wash.
What happens at a fitting?
You put the garment on, we pin it to your frame, and you check it in the mirror before anything is approved or cut. Nothing is stitched until you’ve seen the fit and said go.
What does “original hem” mean on jeans?
We shorten the leg from above and re-attach the factory hem, so the original stitching stays where you bought it. Prefer a plain hem? We do that too.
Will my garment be pressed when I pick it up?
Yes — finished work comes back pressed and ready to wear. You try it on at the counter before you pay.
How do I pay?
Cash or Zelle at the shop when you pick up your garment. Zelle payments go to Samha Group LLC.
Do you do wedding parties?
Yes — bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride dresses are regular work here. Bring all the dresses to the same appointment so hem levels match.
Where do I park?
There’s free plaza parking right at 10500 SW Hwy. Our entrance is wheelchair accessible.
Can you fix a leather jacket?
Yes — bring it in for a free assessment. We’ll look it over and tell you what the repair needs before any work starts.
Do you offer same-day alterations?
Yes — same-day is how the shop runs. Text or call ahead so Ibrahim can plan the day, then bring the garment in.
